Domestic abuse is all about an abuser controlling and dominating their victim. They will use different means of control. It is usually a pattern of behaviour that deals not only with violence, but also with power, control, and fear. This type of violence can include threats and actual physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. It is especially damaging because the perpetrator is someone whom is trusted by the victim. It is often hard for a victim to leave a situation like this because of the emotions or family ties that are involved.
Below is the ‘Duluth Model’ which shows the ‘Power and Control Wheel’
The Power and Control Wheel was developed from the experience of battered women in Duluth who had been abused by their male partners. It has been translated into over 40 languages and has resonated with the experience of battered women world-wide. The Wheel shows the characteristics of an abusive relationship. Not all of the characteristics will be seen as every relationship is different.

Some of those are reasonable, but many are foolish. Glad I know enough about the laws in our country to avoid the mistake of taking a wife under those laws.
